Changes to Billing & Payments
Dear OnlyWordPress Members/Customers,
We would like to take this opportunity to share some important updates regarding changes to our product and service offerings.
Over the past 12 months, we’ve seen a significant increase in the number of members and customers. While this growth is encouraging, it has also presented challenges. Due to the affordability of our services, we’ve unfortunately attracted individuals with malicious intent, such as those exploiting our platform through fraudulent transactions and chargebacks. These actions have made it increasingly difficult for us to maintain our low prices, deliver consistent services, and continue supporting our genuine users with high-quality GPL products.
To address these challenges, we will be implementing several changes in the coming weeks. As you may have already noticed, we recently discontinued longer-term membership options (beyond one month) for payments via Stripe and PayPal.
To ensure we can continue providing affordable services, we’ve introduced Crypto Membership option for memberships of 6 & 12 Month. The benefits of paying with cryptocurrency include:
- Lower Costs: Cryptocurrencies enable us to avoid high transaction fees, helping us keep prices affordable.
- Borderless Payments: Crypto payments allow for seamless global transactions without the hassle of currency conversion or regional restrictions.
- Enhanced Privacy: Secure and pseudonymous transactions reduce the risk of identity theft and exposure of sensitive financial details.
We will still offer non-crypto payment methods at checkout where supported by our cryptocurrency provider, Hel.io, based on your location.
What to Expect Going Forward
We are considering moving to an entirely cryptocurrency-based payment model for new members. This may include:
- Offering individual products for purchase with cryptocurrency outside of the membership model.
- Transitioning to a membership-only website where all payments are made using cryptocurrency.
Rest assured, any existing memberships and purchases will remain unaffected for as long as possible.
We greatly appreciate your understanding and continued support as we navigate these necessary changes. If you have any questions or feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Thank you,
The OnlyWordPress Team
Question:
I’m currently on a subscription plan. Do I need to do anything?
Answer:
No, if you’re already subscribed and your billing is active, you don’t need to take any further action. Your plan will continue as usual, and you’ll be charged for the same plan and duration unless you decide to cancel it.
However, if your payment provider encounters issues (such as 2-3 failed billing attempts), your subscription may be automatically cancelled. In that case, you would need to resubscribe to an available monthly plan to regain access.
Question:
I recently cancelled my subscription. Can I sign up again for my old plan?
Answer:
No, we’ve made changes to our subscription model and now only support monthly plans. If you’d like to rejoin, you’re welcome to subscribe to the monthly plan and resume enjoying all the benefits of membership. Unfortunately, older plans are no longer available and cannot be reactivated.
Question:
How does the one-time setup fee work for monthly billing?
Answer:
All monthly plans include a one-time setup fee, which serves two main purposes:
It helps us prevent misuse of our services.
It supports the ongoing maintenance and improvement of our platform.
This fee is charged only once and does not recur as long as your membership remains active.
However, if you choose to cancel your membership and later decide to rejoin, you will be required to pay the one-time setup fee again as part of the signup process.
Question:
Will the old plans return?
Answer:
It’s highly unlikely that the old plans will be reinstated.
Question:
Can I still buy individual plugins and themes?
Answer:
Yes, for now, we continue to offer individual plugin and theme purchases. However, we are considering transitioning to a membership-only model in the future.
If we make this change, all purchases made prior to the transition will remain unaffected. Customers who purchased individual items before the change will retain access to those items as they always have. We’ll keep users updated about any potential changes to ensure a smooth transition.
